General Submission Guidelines

Your Submission Summary (not counting resume or sample chapters) should be no longer than 1,000 words and take the form of a letter addressed to our editorial team.

Please DO NOT submit unsolicited complete manuscripts.

SUBMISSION SUMMARY

Your Submission Summary should include:

  • Names of the author(s) or editor(s) — Include both legal name and pen name (if applicable).
  • Complete title and subtitle — The working title of your proposed work.
  • Length or proposed length — Estimated word count or page count for your completed work.
  • Description of the content — Include your aims in writing it; primary themes; genre; sources used in your research (if applicable); and the relationship or similarity of your work to other writing in its field or genre.
  • Intended audience/markets — Describe the primary and secondary audiences for your book, including organizations or groups that might be interested in reading it.
  • Alignment with MQ Press mission — Explain how your work complements the mission of The MQ Press as a publisher of voices that illuminate truth and inspire transformation.
  • Special features — Any features in the proposed manuscript that will require special consideration in design and production, such as photographs, line drawings, illustrations, charts, graphs, or tables, etc.
  • Status of your manuscript — Include when you expect to finish writing it, and what percentage is currently complete.

A copy of your current resume (for all authors/editors) should be included with your submission.

A sample chapter is optional but encouraged. Please double-space all sample chapters.
